Student travel awards

We are accepting applications for student travel awards to attend the 2022 GERS meeting. Travel awards of $300 will be offered to students (graduate and undergraduate) to help defray the costs associated with travel and participation in the GERS meeting.   

Eligibility

To be eligible for a student travel award, you must: 

  1. Be a current GERS member 
  2. Be a current graduate or undergraduate student 
  3. Submit or plan to submit an abstract 

Preference will be given to students who have not received awards previously. 

Application

To apply, combine the following items into a single PDF with your first and last name in the file name (e.g., JaneSmith), and submit to gerssecretary@gmail.com

  1. A picture of you doing your research for use in publicity. 
  2. A statement describing why you want to attend GERS and a copy of your submitted abstract (if available). 
  3. A short letter from your adviser confirming your student status and funding need. 

Student Travel Award Applications are due Aug 15, 2022. 

To renew your GERS membership, please visit https://gers.wildapricot.org/join. Membership dues are $30 per year ($20 per year for students) and can be paid by credit card or PayPal account. Memberships run on a calendar year basis (Jan 1-Dec 31).  

GERS is an affiliate society of the Coastal Estuarine Research Federation (CERF). CERF members receive great benefits, including access to an international job board and tools for early career scientists to become leaders in their fields. Regular GERS dues may also be paid at the same time as CERF dues. Join or renew your CERF membership today!
