Gulf Estuarine Research Society Biennial Meeting



The 2022 meeting of the Gulf Estuarine Research Society (GERS) will be held at The University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs, Mississippi from October 27 - 29, 2022. 



Deadlines

Registration Rates

Early bird registration deadline is October 7, 2022. After this date, registration fees increase by $25

  • Early-bird for GERS Student Members: $75
  • Early-bird for GERS Non-Student Members: $125

For non-members, there is an additional fee of $50

Make sure your membership is up-to-date to receive the best registration rate! If you are not currently a member, please sign up here. Registration fee includes breakfast and lunch; snacks during mid-session breaks; appetizers and a drink ticket for the poster session; and admission and a drink ticket for the closing banquet. Plenary

GERS is excited to announce that Dr. Leila J. Hamdan, Professor at The University of Southern Mississippi and President of the Coastal Esturarine Research Federation (CERF) will be the plenary speaker. Please see the Plenary page for more information

Student Travel Awards

We are accepting applications for student travel awards to attend the 2022 GERS meeting! Please visit the the student travel award page for details on eligibility and how to apply.

Travel award amount: $300

Application deadline: July 31, 2022

Venue Information

The meeting will take place at The University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Coast Research Laboratory. The majority of meeting activities, including the oral and poster sessions, will take place at the Halstead campus and the closing ceremony  banquet will take place at the Cedar Point campus. Lodging & Travel

We are excited to host the 2022 GERS Meeting in Ocean Springs, Mississippi and hope to draw many of our members from across the Gulf to this centrally located city.  There are several hotels and vacation rentals in Ocean Springs and nearby Biloxi that offer state rates upon request. Please see our list of suggested lodging when making reservations.

Students! A limited number of rooms have been reserved in the GCRL dorm for undergraduate and graduate students. Dorms are available on a first-come, first-serviced basis. For more details, please visit the Lodging page.

Ocean Springs is a quaint beach town, with a deep-seated history in the arts. Please visit our Things to do page to get the most out of your trip to Ocean Springs. 

GERS is an affiliate society of the Coastal Estuarine Research Federation (CERF). CERF members receive great benefits, including access to an international job board and tools for early career scientists to become leaders in their fields. Regular GERS dues may also be paid at the same time as CERF dues. Join or renew your CERF membership today!
