We are excited to have three field trips available on Thursday, October 27 for GERS attendees. Field trip registration is through the meeting registration page (link).
Time: October 27 - Afternoon
Description: The bird watching field trip will be led by Dr. Mark Woodry, Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture at Mississippi State University, and Avian Ecologist, with over 20 year of experience researching coastal bird ecology and conservation.
Cost: $5 (reserves your spot and grants 1 extra drink ticket at the poster session)Time: October 27 - Afternoon
Description: TCMAC is a 100,000 sqft aquaculture center located on GCRL's Cedar Point Campus with over 50,000 sqft of culture space for animals and 10,000 sqft of experimental space. This guided tour will involve the currently cultured species spotted sea trout, tripletail, and oysters.
Cost: $5 (reserves your spot and grants 1 extra drink ticket at the poster session)
Time: October 27 - Afternoon
Description: The newly constructed Mississippi Aquarium, which opened it doors in August 2020, is a 5.8 acre complex in Gulfport, MS with more than 2000 species of animals and 50 species of native plants.
Cost: $30, which covers Aquarium admission.
More information for each of the field trips, including start and end times will be available soon. GERS will provide round-trip transportation from the GCRL Halstead Campus to all field trip locations.
The $5 cost for the bird watching tour and tour of the Thad Cochran Marine Aquaculture center is to ensure attendance of those who register for these tours. For this $5 fee, each tour registrant will receive one drink ticket that can be used at either the poster session or banquet and can be picked up at the beginning of the tour.
