Deadlines
| Student Travel AwardsWe are accepting applications for student travel awards to attend the 2026 GERS meeting! Please visit the student travel award page for details on eligibility and how to apply. Only current GERS members who are presenting at the conference are eligible for the award. You can become a member here: GERS Membership You will need: 1) a letter from your advisor confirming your status as a student and your need for funding, and 2) a picture of yourself doing your research. This photo will be used in the meeting's program and on GERS social media if you are selected for an award. Applications will be accepted beginning August 1st at this link: Student Travel Award application Travel award amount: Up to $300 based on needs Deadline to apply: September 1st. |
Registration Rates
Make sure your membership is up-to-date to receive the best registration rate! If you are not currently a member, please sign up here. Registration fee includes snacks during mid-session breaks; appetizers and a drink ticket for the poster session; and admission and a drink ticket for the closing banquet. Breakfast and lunch can be added to your registration for a fee ($5/day for breakfast and $10/day for lunch). For more details, please visit our Registration Page. |

Schedule at a glanceVisit our Schedule page for more details on the tentative schedule for the GERS 2026 conference. | Student Volunteers If you are interested in volunteering at this GERS Meeting, please email gerssecretary@gmail.com with “Student Volunteer” in the subject line. In exchange for 4 hours of volunteer time you will receive free registration. We can accommodate up to 10 volunteers and this opportunity is available on a first come first serve basis. You cannot be both a Student Volunteer and a Student Travel Award recipient. |
Lodging & TravelWe are excited to host the 2026 GERS Meeting in Houma, Louisiana! Visit our Lodging page for more information regarding hotels. Student Lodging Dorm rooms are available at LUMCON’s De Felice Marine Center for $30/person/night for students attending the conference. To reserve your space please email Laurie Boquet at lboquet@lumcon.edu indicating that you are attending the GERS conference. Dorms are available on a first come first serve basis and are being held for GERS participants until October 2nd, 2026. The De Felice Marine Center is located at 8124 Highway 56, Chauvin, LA 27 miles south of the conference venue. GERS will help coordinate carpooling between the dorms and the conference venue if needed. If help coordinating a carpool is needed please email gerssecretary@gmail.com with “Ground Transportation - Carpool” in the subject line Travel & Things to Do The closest airport is the New Orleans airport (MSY), which is 49 miles away. We encourage people flying in for the meeting to rent a vehicle.
